Mist shrouded mountain view in Nepal
This tour gives you a taste of all that Nepal has to offer, with time spent exploring the ancient city of Kathmandu, a short trek in the foothills of the Annapurna range, rafting on the Seti river, and safaris in the Royal Chitwan National Park. Taken together, you enjoy a comprehensive introduction to the history & culture, natural beauty, and adventure that Nepal has to offer.
Your tour starts in Nepal’s intriguing capital city, Kathmandu. Here you tour the centre of the city with its many temples, stupas, and narrow winding streets. From Kathmandu you travel west across the heart of Nepal to the beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara, nestling in the foothills of the majestic Annapurna mountain range. A short drive up into the hills takes you to the start of your trek into the mountains.
Local trekking in Nepal
Passing through small rural villages, forests, and terraced farmland, you climb up to Ghorepani, where you enjoy breathtaking views of the mighty, snow-capped Annapurna mountain range from the summit of Poon Hill. After a spectacular sunrise on Poon Hill, you descend from Ghorepani through varied countryside, into the Kali Gandaki river valley - the deepest gorge in the world - where you walk downstream along the river, passing long donkey caravans, before returning to Pokhara.
There is a short drive out from Pokhara to your put-in point on the Seti river, where you start 2 days of white-water rafting.
Whitewater rafting in Nepal
The Seti is one of Nepal's warmest, and gentler rivers, and passes through a beautiful jungle filled valley, with plenty of easy Class II-III rapids, suitable for anyone over 12 years of age.
You begin slowly, as your guide teaches you all you need to know for the rapids to come, and soon enough the exciting white water looms ahead. You will have plenty of time to relax on beautiful white sandy beaches and visit picturesque villages as you travel down the river.
Near the confluence with the Trisuli river, we leave the river, and we drive you to the Royal Chitwan National Park.
One horned rhino in Chitwan NP, Nepal
You spend the next few days in and around the park, relaxing and taking in some of the activities on offer. A canoe ride down the Rapti River is an idyllic way to see some of the rare breeds of birds that use the waterway. A Jungle walk through the park follows, hopefully seeing Sloth Bear, tiger or rhino. The next day includes an elephant ride and jeep safari, visiting the crocodile breeding project en route. You finish with a visit to a local Tharu village followed by an evening cultural program.
Then it’s another interesting and scenic drive back to Kathmandu and a little extra sightseeing or perhaps a final shopping spree before your tour ends and you must say farewell to Nepal.
You can join one of our small-group departures on this tour, do it privately, or use it as a base for a tailor-made itinerary. Options are available to tour Patan & Bhaktapur on the outskirts of Kathmandu, do a mountain flight to view Everest, or extend the tour to do some more technical & demanding rafting on the Bhote Khosi river, or visit the Royal Bardia National Park.
Note - if you like the look of this tour, but don't want to do the rafting, then please check our
Nepal Uncovered tour which runs alongside this tour, but visits the hill-town of Bandipur in place of the rafting section.
