You start your Egyptian adventure in Cairo with a visit one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the great pyramids at Gisa. We next take you on a tour of the cith of Cairo, where we visit the Citadel with its collection of mosques and palaces, the world famous Egyptian museum, and finish by exploring the Khan-el-Khalili bazaar.

 

The overnight sleeper train takes you south to the beautiful town of Aswan, which is situated beside the cascading waters of the Nile. Here you can relax and watch myriad feluccas sail lazily around the many small islands or experience traditional Egyptian life with a stroll along the mazy streets of the town’s colourful bazaar. We take you on a visit to the lovely island temple of Philae and you have the option of a flight out to Abu Simbel, with its remarkable temple to Ramses II, before beginning your cruise down the Nile towards Luxor.

 

Surrounded by the sumptuous setting of your luxurious cruise boat you slowly make your way down river. You can relax by the pool and watching the world go by during the day, and dine and enjoy traditional Egyptian entertainment by night. En route you will stop at the fabulous temples of Komombo and Edfu before finally reaching Luxor. We use cruise boats at the Egyptian 5-star deluxe level, and book upper deck cabins whenever available (no extra supplement).

 

In Luxor you take tours to both the East & West banks for the Nile. These include the Pharaonic tombs in the Valleys of the Kings, Queen Hatchepsut's temple, and new for 2008, the colourful temple of Medinat Habu which really gives you an idea of what Egypt's temples used to look like. On the East bank we visit the temple of Luxor in the middle of town, and the huge temple complex at Karnak.

Following feedback from our travellers, we have added an extra free day to the time in Luxor, during which you can take an optional hot air balloon flight, visit more temples and sites, walk through the markets and along the Nile, or just relax by the pool in your hotel.

 

From Luxor you travel overland to the Red Sea Riviera resort town of Hurghada, where you have 4 nights in a 5-star beach resort. You can try snorkelling, scuba-diving or a glass-bottomed boat trip over the world-famous reefs, take a jeep trip into the desert, St. Paul's Monastery, and the ancient Roman quarries, or just relax in the hotel and on the beach. From Hurghada, you follow the Red Sea coast up to the Suez Canal and on to Cairo where you have some free time before your tour ends with a transfer to the airport for your flight home.
