The following accommodation list is grouped into categories ranging from A (highest) to E (lowest) based on their level of facilities and services. Wherever possible we have tried to maintain consistency in categories across the country. We use an A-E scale rather than Star-ratings, as we don't always agree with the official star ratings given to different hotels within a country, and also the standard of different star ratings varies from country to country.

In the Facts Box at the top of all our tour pages, the accommodation used in each location on that tour is shown with a link to the A-E levels shown below. You can follow those links, and those below, to get more information about the places you'll be staying while doing our tours. 

 

Important Notes:
While they are our preferred choices, the hotel names below are given as a guide only, and we use them subject to availability. Sometimes in peak seasons, or for example if maintenance work is being carried out in a hotel, we may use other carefully selected hotels of the same standard.

It should be borne in mind that hotel standards in Thailand are not always directly comparable to those in the UK or other Western countries.

A

These are some of the very best 5 star hotels in Thailand, in which all rooms have air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom, telephone and cable TV. Other facilities and services include swimming pools, often in pleasant garden surroundings, an assortment of coffee shops, cafes, high quality restaurants and shops, fitness. We offer these hotels on tailor-made tours and as a deluxe hotel upgrade on private departures on our set Superior level tour itineraries.

 

B

These are high quality hotels around the 4-5 star level, in which all rooms have air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. All hotels have a pool and restaurant, exchange, laundry and other standard facilities. studio, business centre, laundry service and room service.

These hotels are rated around 3 star in Thailand, and all have air-conditioned rooms with en-suite bathrooms. Laundry, restaurant and coffee shop facilities are provided, though there will normally be only one restaurant. Some hotels have swimming pools, but this is not guaranteed at this level, particularly in Bangkok.  We use hotels at this level in Bangkok on our Standard Level tours.

 

D

These are basic hotels around the 2 star level and are all comfortable and clean, and all rooms have fans or air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. 

 

E

This is the most basic level of accommodation included in our tours, and normally only comprises a small section of the itinerary.
