NEPAL ACCOMMODATION

IMPORTANT NOTES
While they are our first choices, the hotel and lodge names below are given as a guide only, and we use them subject to availability. Sometimes in peak seasons, or for example if maintenance work is being carried out in a hotel or lodge, we may use other carefully selected hotels and lodges of the same standard.
Links are given either to the hotels own websites, or to detailed pages about the hotels/lodges on our own website.

A
These are the highest quality hotels available, in which all rooms have air-conditioning, en-suite bathroom, telephone and cable TV. Other facilities and services include swimming pools in pleasant surroundings, an assortment of coffee shops, cafes, restaurants and shops, fitness studio, business centre, laundry service and room service. This level of accommodation is only available in Kathmandu and Pokhara in Nepal. We do not currently use any of these hotels in our group tours, but offer them as options on private and tailor-made itineraries.

B
These are high quality, characterful hotels, in which all rooms have air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. All hotels have a restaurant, exchange, laundry and other standard facilities (we don’t guarantee swimming pools at this level). Lodges, by their nature, have more basic facilities but are still of a high standard, and are the best available in Nepal. We use some of these hotels in Kathmandu on our group tours, and the others are available on private and tailor-made itineraries.

All the above hotels have air-conditioned or air-cooled rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The hotels all have standard facilities like restaurants, room service and laundry. Lodges in the National Parks are of a medium level, with comfortable but basic rooms, a restaurant & bar, but not luxurious facilities. Both lodges in Chitwan are located right inside the park which makes them ideal for wildlife viewing. We use this level of accommodation on many of our tours outside Kathmandu.

  • Kathmandu - Hotel Mandap
  • Pokhara - Hotel Lake View, Shikhar Hotel
  • Nagarkot - Hotel Space Mountain, Hotel View Tower
  • Bandipur - Old Inn Guesthouse
  • Chitwan National Park - Rhino Lodge, Chitwan Park Cottage Lodge
  • Royal Bardia National Park - Forest Hideaway Lodge
These hotels are basic and clean, and all rooms have fans and usually en-suite bathrooms. Lodges & guesthouses have basic facilities only. We use these hotels for economy level tailor-made itineraries where you are on a tight budget. The lodge in Bardia however is our favourite and the one we use as standard when we visit there.

  • Trekking - Teahouse lodges, Campsites
  • Rafting - Campsites
All teahouse lodges used whilst trekking are clean and comfortable with basic facilities (bear in mind that everything in these lodges either has to be made in situ, or carried there by porter or donkey). Rooms in the lodges are normally twin, though some triple or 4 bed rooms are available. Single rooms are available subject to space in the lodge, but cannot be guaranteed. Toilet and washing facilities will normally be in a separate building.
A sleeping bag is required if you are trekking, and these are available to hire in advance from Kathmandu if required.
All camping equipment, including a sleeping bag, is provided when camping during rafting tours.

If you have a specific preference of hotel, either one listed above or elsewhere, we should be able to arrange this. Please contact us for details.

[Note: Non-listed hotels may be subject to a supplementary cost]
