Itinerary

Children in snorkelling gear on a beach in Thailand
Children in snorkelling gear on a beach in Thailand
This tour is a combination of our Elephants & Rafts, and Wet & Wild in Thailand tours, to make a comprehensive family adventure holiday. Featuring jungle trekking, elephant riding, bamboo rafting, wildlife parks and sea canoeing as well as some cultural sightseeing and beach relaxation, this tour is designed to give you a taste of all that Thailand has to offer.

Starting in Bangkok, we tour the huge Grand Palace complex, and have an optional afternoon tour to visit more of the different styles of temples throughout the city. Throughout the tour, we have designed the itinerary to include a balance of included tours and free time. During the free periods, you can either choose one of the extra optional tours, explore yourselves, or relax in the hotel or on the beach. Accommodation is also varied between luxurious 4 or 5-star hotels, and basic accommodation for the adventure sections.

From Bangkok we head north to Chiang Mai where we visit the hilltop Doi Suthep temple and learn about how the importance of Buddhisjm in Thailand, before visiting the city's zoo, well known for its natural surroudings and the only pair of giant Panda in Thailand.

The next feature of the tour is an adventure into the forests and hill-tribe villages north of Chiang Mai where we enjoy some jungle trekking, an elephant ride, and bamboo rafting on the river, as well as spending two nights in remote Karen tribal villages. After returning to Chiang Mai, options are available to try a cookery course, or to visit more temples and sights by car or bicycle, before we return to Bangkok on the sleeper train to start the second leg of the tour.

Before leaving Bangkok to head south, we include a long-tail boat trip around the Thonburi suburbs of the city, visiting an orchid farm, local school and the boat house where the royal barges are kept. We also leave a whole day free with options to visit a colourful local market, or do a day trip to see the Bridge on the River Kwai at Kanchanaburi.

An overnight sleeper train journey takes us south to Khao Sok National Park, where we spend an adventurous night staying in unique Treehouses in the forest canopy. While in the park, we do several nature walks, a canoe trip on the Raj Phraba lake where we spend two nights staying in simple raft-houses, and have time to relax and enjoy swimming and tubing on the river.

From Khao Sok we head to the beach at Krabi where we stay in a luxury beach resort for some added comfort after our previous more basic accommodation in the park. We include a boat trip to some of the most beautiful beaches, islands and coral reefs in the area before flying back to Bangkok to finish the tour.

Options are available to extend the beach section of the tour, or visit Cambodia and Ankor Wat after you return to Bangkok.
